Success Story: Miss Neema – Stitching Her Way to Success
When Miss Neema, a passionate tailor from Arusha, first started her small sewing business, she faced many challenges. Despite her talent and determination, she struggled to grow her enterprise due to a lack of access to affordable financing. She worked from a small rented room with only one sewing machine, often turning down customers because she couldn’t meet demand on time.
Everything changed when Neema discovered Amshar Microfinance. After attending one of our community outreach sessions, she learned about our microloan program designed to empower small business owners like her. She decided to apply for a loan to expand her business — and within a short period, her application was approved.
With the funds she received, Neema purchased two additional sewing machines, a variety of fabrics, and improved her workspace. The impact was immediate. Her productivity doubled, and her customer base grew rapidly through word of mouth and referrals from satisfied clients.
As her business flourished, Neema was able to hire two young women from her neighborhood, providing them with employment and training opportunities. Today, her shop is one of the most recognized tailoring centers in her community, producing quality clothing and school uniforms.
Neema now earns a steady and reliable income, which allows her to support her family, pay school fees for her younger siblings, and save for future growth. She also participates in Amshar’s financial literacy training, where she continues to learn about budgeting, record-keeping, and business management.
